2023 Product Innovations

Siltech’s new Sustain series ingredients offer premium performance with the added assurance of improved sustainability. Our chemists have organically modified the silicone backbone with functional groups derived from biobased sources. Siltech verifies biobased carbon content for the Sustain series products using ASTM D6866. The result is premium performance with a reduced dependency on petroleum feedstocks. In 2023 Siltech added Silsurf® Sustain Di-1010, Silube® Sustain 4316 and Silwax® Sustain 5116 to our Sustain series.

Silsurf® Sustain Di-1010 (biobased carbon content=66%) is a PEG-10 Dimethicone that provides exceptional conditioning in skin care and is ideal for foaming hydro-alcoholic hand sanitizers.

Silwax® Sustain 5116 (biobased carbon content=82%) is an improved sustainability liquid alkyl dimethicone that provides excellent spreadability, emollience and pleasing sensorial in personal care. Silwax® Sustain 5116 differs from traditional Cetyl Dimethicones as the alkyl component is derived from biobased plant sources.

Silube® Sustain 4316 (biobased carbon content=73%) is an improved sustainability alkyl functional silicone polyether emulsifier that provides premium benefits as a Water-In-Oil (invert) emulsifier. Silube® Sustain 4316 functions as a more sustainable version of the standard Silube® T308-16-CG. Relative to the standard, or “non-Sustain” version, the polyether and alkyl components of Silube® Sustain 4316 are derived from biobased plant sources, rather than petroleum-based feedstocks. INCI is Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone.

Siltech additionally introduced a Phenyl Trimethicone offering in 2023, Siltech® PTM. Siltech® PTM is a specialty silicone fluid that provides emulsification, emolliency and improved sensorial in a variety of personal care formulations. An inherent high refractive index provides excellent gloss for hair care and a glow for color cosmetics.
