The ICSC vertical farming facility uses solar energy to power the farming setup. Furthermore, it produces ingredients that are 100% free from herbicides, pesticides, GMOs, heavy metals or other toxins.
In addition to the EFFCI certification, the vertical farming facility previously achieved ISO 9001:2015 and kosher certification in 2020. In 2022, ICSC will build a new facility to support the further growth and development of the vertical farming platform for cosmetics ingredients.
Currently, ICSC offers Cosmosil HB (holy basil) and Cosmosil CAL (calendula) Oil and Butter from its vertical farming for sustainable cosmetic formulations. These ingredients are additionally manufactured using internal stabilization technology for a longer shelf life of finished products.
Philip Shukla, vice president of ICSC, said: “The standardization and now certifications of our vertical farming platform provide the solid foundation for providing our customers not only with innovative sustainable ingredients but also ingredients from a source of consistent supply and high quality. We are taking the sustainability and innovation aspects of natural ingredients to the next level in the cosmetic industry.”
