Italy-based Lumson is set to launch the APP (airless plastic packaging) 355 Light, a new 50 ml PCR PE airless with pouch system that is 25% lighter than the equivalent standard APP 355 due to a reduction in the bottle's thickness. In addition, the multi-layered pouch acts as a barrier against contaminants and to protect formulas.
The new design comprises 80% PCR HDPE and 20% HDPE.
Per a SPICE analysis, CO2 emissions generated during manufacturing of the APP 355 Light are 19% lower compared to the APP Start PE airless system.
The APP 355 Light bottle can be paired with the Lumson AA355 pump in PCR PP, which allows for the recycling of each plastic component, per Lumson.
"The new APP 355 Light incarnates all of Lumson's technical and technological expertise and is a solution that is keeping up with the times," said Matteo Moretti, president of Lumson. "Not only is it a winning choice in terms of safety and sustainability, but it's also extremely versatile because, like all of our airless packaging, it can be customized with various effects and decorations".
Moretti added, "We've chosen to exhibit at this edition of PCD Paris [taking place January 25-26, 2023] with an exposition space that is larger compared to previous years, taking into consideration the event's growing relevance at the international level. At this edition, we'll be presenting some new products and various 'musts' from our portfolio that have functionality with sustainability in mind as their common denominator. In fact, our goal is to shape the future of packaging with particular attention to the environment and our commitment from here on out will be focused on the planning, design, and development of solutions that represent ethical, environmental, and economical sustainability criteria."
