During the Barcelona Perfumery Congress 2023, Clearwood by Scentmate by dsm-firmenich was recognized as the Best Sustainable Ingredient. The Barcelona Perfumery Awards covered 10 categories throughout the fragrance industry. Scentmate by dsm-firmenich was also a finalist in the categories of Most Innovative Company and Best Research on Smell & Fragrances.
Clearwood is a synthetic ingredient that is designed to combine long-term sustainable development, said to be obtained through the fermentation of sugar cane, avoiding the consumption of traditional natural resources and using renewable carbon sources.
The ingredient is described as "a softer and purer version of patchouli that constitutes a new ingredient with a lot of presence and an elegant, distinctive and sustainable signature. Radiant with light, it offers the creamy warmth of amber and a woody character."
