Responsible Distribution is the National Association of Chemical Distributor’s (NACD) third party-verified environmental, health, safety and security program. It requires third-party verification of facilities against a set of guiding principles that strictly adhere to industry and business standards. It also entails participation with interested entities in creating responsible laws, regulations and systems to advance innovation and protect the environment.
Participation in the Responsible Distribution program provides better documentation of company policies, improved communication with local communities, reduced audit time and costs, increased credibility and education and training in health, safety, security and environmental performance, per the company.
Joseph C. Cimo, president of Coast Southwest, said, “Coast Southwest is taking bold steps to expand our investment in quality and continuous improvement. Responsible Distribution has always been critical to that strategy. Quality is a process, not a declaration. Our goal is to make quality this company’s defining corporate value. Our fidelity to Responsible Distribution and the rigors of NACD’s certification process is the cornerstone of our commitment as a national chemical distributor.”
Eric R. Byer, NACD president and CEO, said, “Through their successful verification, Coast Southwest and its senior leadership have committed to continuous improvement in the responsible management and handling of chemicals that ensures NACD members effectively support the industries America relies on most. Responsible Distribution is critical to the chemical distribution industry’s ability to safely deliver more than 300 million tons of product every year.”
